Episode One – The Imaging Days 2019

November 11, 2019

The idea for Radio Imaging 101 was devised in Amsterdam, Netherlands recently, just before The Imaging Days 2019. Denzil Lacey and Nik Šmon are joined by some of the biggest and best names in Radio Imaging from across the world.

The Audio Branding world is only getting more interesting with recent developments of Podcasts, Vlogs and Voice Activated devices.

We, Denzil Lacey (Ireland) and Nik Šmon (Slovenia) were in a pub together and came up with the idea of creating a new Podcast for the Radio Imaging, Audio Branding and Sound Design industries.

While Episode One will be more of a direct look at The Imaging Days 2019 – episode two onwards will be more of an open and honest look at the industry and how it has changed and perhaps how it hasn’t changed. This episode is like a trial and preview of what is to come – I recorded the episode in three different studios, using three different types of microphone, so if you spot that – you are correct!

We will be inviting guests from across the industry to share their thoughts and ideas to further develop the industry with the intention to get new and fresh blood coming through. There is no secret that overall there is a lack of people getting into our industry and we want to know ‘why?’.

We will have some of the biggest and greatest names of our industry share their two cents with lots of tips, tricks and industry secrets that may not have been talked about before.

We want everyone involved – we are the facilitators and we want you to be the Podcast. Submit your thoughts, questions and ideas in the form of voice notes to www.radioimaging101.com.

Another aspect I would love to talk about is the feeling, the why and the intentions behind what we do. It’s not enough to just create a sweeper and it hitting on air or platform. Why did we select the music, drops, voices overs and why the copy was scripted in that way.

We would REALLY appreciate your feedback by rating the podcast on your favourite Podcast Platform (iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn Radio and via our website) it will mean that more people discover this podcast and hopefully more people become interested in the craft we pour our heart and souls into.

We would ask that the audio is suitable quality – don’t record it on the New York Subway or London Underground or while you’re taking a sh*t – record it in a quiet room or somewhere with no background noise.

A lot of friends and peers have been asking us what The Imaging Days 2019 was like as they couldn’t make it – we wanted to give an unbiased, not sponsored opinion on what people learned. So, if you missed this year’s conference – check this out. I certainly picked up some new ideas and thought starters and I’m pretty sure you will too. It’s all food for thought.

Show Notes

If you enjoyed the Imaging from Jeff Berlin. Check out the full tracks from his work on Grand Theft Auto below. Personally, it has been very inspiring for me over the years. It could have been created today!
